Solar home address sign concept first prototype
Since 1992 SolarOasis has designed many OEM applications that use LEDs. A recent application of SolarOasis technology was in designing a circuit for a lighted home address sign.
Solar powered home address signs have proven to be very popular with homeowners. But the shortcomings of these seemingly simple devices, particularly a very short operating time after sundown, limit their usefulness.
When approached by a manufacturer wishing to compete in this market by offering a superior product, SolarOasis engineering was up to the task. By creating highly specialized, extremely energy efficienty LED control circuitry, matched with the latest in solar cell technology and an appropriate rechargeable battery pack, the results greatly exceeded the manufacturer's expectations.
The new device would brightly light an address sign far longer than even the longest winter night, regardless of temperature. In combination with the new solar cell a sufficient charge was achieved even on days with heavy cloud cover, which severly restricts recharging time, to light the sign brightly throughout the night.
